Career Planning & Scholarships
The good thing and the bad about starting a career is the endless number of choices. This process will not be overwhelming as long as there is extensive and careful career planning. This service will allow the community to utilize our resources to help them get their careers off to a good start. Once an occupation has been chosen (with our assistance), a plan will then be formulated which will assist them in reaching their anticipated goals. This will be accomplished through the developing of a formal career action plan that includes both long-term and short-term goals.
A career action plan is a road map that takes you from choosing an occupation to becoming employed in that occupation to reaching your long-term career goals. It is also referred to as an Individualized or individual career plan or an individualized or individual career development plan. One of the most important things you will do during the career planning process is set goals. A goal is something you want to achieve-the end to the means. We assist in developing both long-and-short term goals. Long term goals you should be able to achieve these in about three to five years. Short term goals you should be able to reach these in one to three years.
Rho Omicron Foundation assist high school seniors by awarding scholarships to schools in Iberia Parish, St. Martin Parish, and St. Mary Parish to assist in offsetting the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Potential candidates must have first been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning. There are so many young men desiring to attend college but unfortunately do not have the financial means to do so. We are hopeful that these scholarships will be funded through generous contributions from the community, fundraising efforts and grants. Each prospective applicant must exhibit moral character, deep rooted values, commitment to community, leadership skills, as well as an average 3.5 grade point average. Each applicant must also provide character/leadership letter from their high school guidance counselor.
The program is publicized by strategically placing flyers with the Guidance Counselors of the various parish high schools previously mentioned.
